Who we are

Ashkar is an engineering company that builds AI-driven software for enterprises. We were founded in Muscat, Oman, where we are based. In this policy, “Ashkar”, “we” and “us” mean Ashkar, which decides how and why the personal data described here is processed.

You can reach us about anything in this policy at [email protected].

What this policy covers

This policy covers personal data we collect through this website, when you contact us, and when we work with you as a customer, supplier or partner. It does not cover data that our customers process using our products; see Data in our products.

Before you send the contact form, we ask for your consent to use your details to reply to your enquiry. We only send marketing emails if you have separately agreed to receive them, and every such email includes a way to unsubscribe.

You can withdraw your consent at any time by emailing us. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that took place before you withdrew it.

Who we share it with

We do not sell, rent or trade personal data. We share it only:

  • with service providers that help us run our business, such as email and website hosting, which may use it only on our instructions and must keep it secure;
  • with our professional advisers, such as lawyers and accountants, where needed;
  • with authorities, where the law requires it;
  • with a buyer or successor if our business is reorganized, under the same protections described here.

Transfers outside Oman

Some of our service providers may store or process data outside Oman. This website serves its fonts from its own domain; your browser does not contact Google Fonts. Where personal data leaves Oman, we only transfer it as permitted by Oman’s Personal Data Protection Law, with your consent where it is required, and to recipients that protect it to the standard the law requires.

How long we keep it

We keep personal data only for as long as we need it for the purposes above, as set out in the table, or for longer where the law requires it. When we no longer need it, we delete it or make it anonymous.

How we protect it

We limit access to personal data to the people who need it for their work, and we protect it with technical and organizational measures suited to the risk. If a breach affects your personal data, we will notify the competent authority within 72 hours where the law requires it, and tell you as required by law. More about our approach is on our Security page.

Data in our products

When our customers use our products, such as Najva for call recordings, Ganjoor for plant knowledge or Modaf for assessment records, the customer decides what personal data is processed and why. In that case we act on the customer’s instructions under our contract with them. Where a product is installed on the customer’s own servers, the data stays on their infrastructure.

If you are an employee or end user of one of our customers, please send questions about your data to your organization first. We will help them respond.

Cookies

This website does not use advertising or analytics cookies. If that changes, we will update this policy and ask for your consent before setting any non-essential cookies.

Children

Our website and services are intended for businesses and are not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

Your rights

Under Oman’s Personal Data Protection Law, and other laws that may apply to you, you have the right to:

  • withdraw your consent at any time;
  • receive a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
  • have inaccurate or out-of-date data corrected or updated;
  • ask us to transfer your data to another organization;
  • ask us to delete your data;
  • be told if a breach affects your data.

To use any of these rights, email us at [email protected] with “Privacy request” in the subject. We may need to confirm your identity first. We will respond within 45 days.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal data, please contact us first so we can try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the data protection authority, which in Oman is the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version on this page and change the date at the top. If a change materially affects how we use your personal data, we will make that clear here.
